BTD '88
A downloadable game for Windows
HOW IT BEGAN
The first Bloons TD game, made originally for the NES in 1988, has been lost to time. Recently, a copy of the original cartridge was found in a scrapyard and was brought to working condition, all for you to play for free.
HOW IT ENDED
The way this game came to be is a bit wild so I'm making a series that covers both technical (and historical?) aspects of it! The finale:
REALITY
Alright, in *reality* this is simply a fan remake of the bloons games.
It all began when I saw a meme on the BTD6 subreddit, and felt the need to turn it into an actual game. It was headache inducing.
What's the meme, you ask? Well here it is, in all its glory: https://www.reddit.com/r/btd6/comments/1b9lcia/how_did_1_red_bloon_slip_by_it_wa...
However, the game has reached version 1.0 and is ready for other monkeys to play!
FEATURES
-Sandbox mode! Never-before-seen gamemode in which you have infinite money and can spawn any bloon you want
-Normal mode! The classic gameplay you expect, with a couple twists!
-Campaign mode, where you play through 4 maps with increasing difficulty
-Universal upgrades that can be applied to any monkey! (Simply pick from the store on the right, and select a monkey on the screen to apply)
-Bloon types up to the ZOMG
Increases the shooting speed of a monkey!
Larger range for the monkeys!
Darts pass through more bloons!
Each shot splits into more! Like airburst darts or cluster bombs. (Try on Spike Factory or Bomb Shooter!)
The monkey shoots more projectiles. (Try on Tack Shooter!)
Version 1.0
-Added a campaign mode, where you go through 4 maps back to back
-Added the Bloon Chipper
-Added music for all stages
Version 0.8
-Added "Normal" mode, that goes up to 85 rounds
-Added 3 other maps (& a menu!)
-Added money, health, rounds and a weird monkey unlock system
Version 0.6
-Added bomb shooter, tack shooter and spike factory
-Added "Recursive Shot" and "Multi Shot" upgrades
-Lead bloons can no longer be popped by regular darts, and thus balance is regained in the universe
Version 0.4
-Sandbox mode
-Monkeys!
-Bloons!
-Universal upgrades (Speed, Range, Pierce)
Almost there...

fazla mal göz çıkarmaz :)
I can't believe I caused this epic game to be made
this is indeed an interesting timeline
back in '88 i told NK to make this game
that's how it got made obviously
I saw your game in the post on Reddit and I really enjoy playing it. It's really simple but really fun as well. I'm trying my hardest to dig up bugs to break the game, but for the most part it's just the one that happens when you sell a shooting tower. I believe this is with all shooting towers, not just bomb and tack. Spike is easy to trigger with recursive. There's also a seperate thing where sometimes if I roll the bloon spacing from 999 -> 1 it will stop sending any bloons until i restart the game. All in all, though, its very fun and easy to turn your brain off to. If you don't mind me asking, what is the forecast for this game? Also, are you holding yourself to 4MB or is that a coincidence?
the bloon-spawning is a bit finnicky especially in Sandbox, however it's all good in Normal mode. the selling bug is also likely due to counting the pops for the monkey.
not too sure what you mean by forecast, but in general i'm trying to create a fun game that's created within few weeks but of course took longer haha :) and the 4 MB is a coincidence, but i'm liking the consistency
I can't help but notice the game takes 4mb of space despite NES cartridges only being able to hold up to 1mb. How is this?
inflation, my friend
The game crashes if you sell a bomb shooter as it shoots, easiest to replicate on black bloons with 4 speed upgrades. Happens with tack shooter too
i think i know why that happens, it'll be fixed in the next update!
