hey, wow, love this game!!! I've gotten kind of addicted, haha.... is there any way you might make this game like, available to download? being able to play it even when my internet craps out and my computer reloads the page without me telling it to would be great. thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! I just added a downloadable version :) (hopefully you're on windows lol)

thank you so much! i am, haha :)

I guess this is how Tetris would've looked like if the Pazhitnov's Elektronika-60 was able to process pentominos...

(Tetris utilizes tetrominos basically only because the computer on which it was first programmed was too weak to process 5-block pieces.)

Please consider adding some public domain BGMs to the game (like The Entertainer by Scott Joplin for example), while its okay to play silently, hearing some BGM is part of the Tetris experience.

Other than that, I liked it.

fun game :D

why no cool t spins πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”game suck for a different reason

I spun a stair(?) piece into a tight spot. Maybe that counts?

You know, it could also be named Petris

Cool game tho I also made it here from the video

why can you set the starting timer to 99

I got 30967 points on my first run but then I just stacked because I was getting bored. the video was clickbait because the game didn't suck and I had fun

cool! though pentominos really are kinda worse than tetrominos haha

It's a surprisingly good game with mechanics that are well thought off.

The only negative thing I noticed is that, when filling up the level mid-scoring, the scoring of the lines ends immediately in favor of deleting lines. This actually ruined my very first Pentis as the game made it count as a Triple due to said level-up. My second Pentis was "true" though so that felt nice.

tl;dr: Make the game finish scoring before removing lines, then the game is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

oh yeah, that's one of those things that are "fine" but a little annoying, thanks!

Heya, love the sfx and style, plus the doube hold is a pretty unique mechanic that was more usable than I thought it'd be.

Got over million points and discovered the game seems to crash or freeze on exactly level 31, probably for the best though since even at that speed I'm pretty sure I could line out indefinitely.

vid of my high score :

thanks, and good job! some things need to be ironed out yeah, but the crash at that level seems to be a bug, atleast there's a "way" to beat Pentis now lol

Very nice game, except for the fact that the game occasionally inserts extra pieces before the one shown in the Next box.

thanks! that is a bit annoying, I couldn't figure out why it happened but I'll look into it more

Really fun, found myself playing this for hours while binge-ing a youtube series in another window, not sure if this is a bug or not, but my level bar increases when i rotate a piece counter-clockwise (I have that binded to Q if that helps) Being an amateur GMS2 game dev myself, i figured this was probably just a left-over debug function. But i still wanna point this out.

EDIT: I remapped my rotation keys to test and yeah, it's just Q that does that, still interesting. Also my highscore is 70498 so far.

yeah! can't believe I forgot that, still honored to have made a side-binge-game :)

Got here from YouTube. Quite fun! Managed 12132 on my first run. Expectedly tough but surprisingly satisfying!

glad you liked it!

this is actually fun

thanks :)

honestly not that bad

i did notice a few things, like the I piece can't rotate until it has fallen down a block (assuming it hits the ceiling), but besides that i would say that it works somewhat well and can be fun

also i got baited for so many kicks that didnt work so theres that

yeah the kick system is probably different than most Tetris games, but "somewhat well" was my goal so yeah :) (Also the I piece is longer than usual here, that's probably why)

Yeah it seems like your rotation system does not have any kicks. Maybe you could make the ceiling a few blocks higher out of sight, so the I-piece would have enough room to rotate.
Otherwise this is a great game with great graphics and I am finding it fun, although there could be more DAS control options and the keybinds don't get saved, at least when I am not logged in.
Adding piece lock delay would help a lot with tucking pieces under others.
An option to turn off the feature that burns lines stored up in the meter on the left is nice. If I try to play clean it can hurt when the stack gets completely burnt and it feels like I stacked upwards for nothing.

Edit: now after about an hour of playing, I can say that the burning feature is really good. If I stack well I can get a few pentrises in before the downstack. If I start making holes it make the stack more manageable again. Great mechanic!

I got a 1,164,000 score just now which is by far my personal best. Playing gets tedious at a certain point.

Works surprisingly well honestly. I'm still ass at this game tho. It's like having to relearn tetris all over again. I like the levels feature and the double hold controls much better than I expected, ALSO THE GRAPHICS ARE INSANELY GOOD FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS!

thanks! and fear not, I was ass too until I had to play it many times to test haha

love how the themes are "pentris" and "gamechild"

also i used to think tetris with pentominoes would be fun

key phrase: used to (you have shown me how bad it is)

I'm honored
